Our Links

“LINKS”, such a funny concept, but well then, what about this whole cyber world isn’t “funny”!?!  So here are some “links” to the places that we like best, if they are blue, click on them and you’ll be whisked away to their website.

Coming to Orcas?  Where to stay? Where to eat?  Where to go?  What to do?  So many choices and each with it's own special attributes!  Take a look at the Chamber of Commerce web site for a full listing of all the offerings!!

Where to stay?  Here are a few of our favorites…….

Enjoy pastoral charm and beauty at Turtleback Farm Inn, the oldest B&B on Orcas.  For a quiet setting, great water views, private beach and a nice central location, it would be the Anchorage Inn Otter's Pond B&B, close to Moran State Park overlooks a large, beautiful pond, a great spot for “birders”.  Jim & Betsy Nelson's Bayside Cottages are nicely secluded and have beach access!  Old Trout Inn is close to the ferry, dinner and cooking lessons are offered, all with a French accent!  Cabins on the Point, romantic cottages and sinful sunsets from the endless western views.  Kingfish Inn overlooks beautiful West Sound, and is located directly over the West Sound Café - so you'll not go hungry!

 Dining Out:

Bilbo's Festivo is an Orcas fixture featuring fabulous "Tex-Mex"- Try the Pork Adobada (Spanish for "out-of-body experience").  The Inn at Ship Bay, in a classic old island farmhouse, great seafood and killer Martini’s.  New in town with a little French influence, is Chez Chloe in Eastsound Square, open for breakfast and lunch Wed - Sun, and dinner on Friday nights.  (rave reviews abound!)   Teezer's, a morning “must” steams up, bar none, the very best lattes on the Island.  Great scones, muffins, cookies, and absolutely evil cinnamon rolls as well.  Rose's Bakery has a new home in the old firehouse, a beautiful and fine deli, incredible wine shop and now a restaurant!  The Kitchen, where Charles serves up very tasty Asian treats (and Martha Stewart's fabulous Chocolate Ginger Cookies), it's hidden behind Tres Fabu, well worth the hunt.  The Westsound Cafe…hard to tell which is better, the food or the view, both fabulous.  And for a little local color, be sure to try the burgers at The Lower Tavern!

 More Great Adventures:

  Orcas Island Pottery
is the oldest studio pottery on the Island, perched high up on a bluff looking west, another "must do" in our opinion.  Howe Gallery features amazing kinetic sculptures… you can see them "floating and flying" from the trees on your way into Eastsound.  Wood's Cove in Eastsound is chock full of neat little treasures and oddities, a fun little shoe department as well!  Just across the walk is Chez Chloe, a celebration of food wine and the accoutrements to go with.  Tres Fabu is all about style, fabulous clothes and little special treats, don't miss it!  We hear tell of a neat new garden/style shop, Nest, next door to Tres Fabu.  haven't been in yet, but have received some great "hostess gifts" procured from there.  Darvill's Bookstore, a "classic" and very quaint independent book shop, the selection is FANTASTIC, and the setting, a step back in time!  (Jenny is always happy to order in anything one wishes)The Orcas Island Artworks is one of the oldest artist co-operatives in the country, the Cafe Olga, housed in the Artworks is a great choice for a leisurely late breakfast or lunch. Leapin' Lizards has an ever-changing collection of unique children's clothing and toys.  Want to experience Orcas by bike?  Wildlife Cycles does an outstanding job of renting, selling and servicing bikes and supplies.  Curious about the early days of Orcas, The Historical Society covers all the bases!  Crow Valley School Museum is an authentic, original 1888 territorial schoolhouse, great photo exhibits!!!  Lambiel Home Museum is an unbelievable showcase of San Juan County artists, be sure to see The Grotto!!   The Living Room hosts a whole bevy of very special concerts, readings, theatrical treats and art, all with the feeling and intimacy of being in your best friend's living room.  The Orcas Center is host to a range of summer shows and concerts!

And of course, the Belle of the Ball, Moran State Park!  How very lucky we are here to have such a wonderful park, and for those of you rugged enough to enjoy camping, some truly exquisite “sights” await!  Great trails around Mountain Lake, Cascade Lake and up to Cascade Falls.  Swimming in Cascade is pure pleasure and a picnic perched on the wall at Mount Constitution is breathless!!!  (Roses’ and the Orcas Store both have great picnic “makings”).  Other favorite picnic spots, Madrona Point and the Marine Park in Olga.

Need more help……don’t hesitate to give us a call, drop us an e:mail or just stop in on your way off of the ferry! (click here for ferry info and schedules, then click on the Anacortes/San Juan Islands links)
